Phenolic resin is one of the widely used main adhesives in the field of wood processing, with its dosage second only to urea formaldehyde resin. Especially in the production of water and weather resistant wood products, phenolic resin has special significance. Phenolic resin adhesive has been widely used due to its good heat resistance, high bonding strength, good aging resistance, excellent electrical insulation, and low cost and ease of use.
Advantages: high polarity and strong adhesion; High rigidity and heat resistance; Good aging resistance; Resistant to water, oil, chemical media, and mold; It is easy to modify and can also modify other adhesives.
Disadvantages: Dark color, certain brittleness, and easy cracking, especially water-soluble phenolic resin has longer curing time and higher curing temperature compared to urea formaldehyde resin, and strict requirements for veneer moisture content.
matters needing attention
1. Phenolic adhesive contains solvents, and generally needs to be left to air for a certain period of time after 2-3 applications. Sometimes, it needs to be heated and baked before bonding.
2. During curing, pressure must be applied to prevent the formation of pores and ensure the density of the adhesive layer.
3. Heat up in stages to ensure uniform and stable temperature.
4. After reaching the specified curing time, the temperature should be slowly lowered and cooled to avoid or reduce the generation of internal stress.
5. The adhesive contains flammable solvents, and during heating and curing, there will be a smell of phenol and formaldehyde. Pay attention to ventilation and fire prevention.
6. The storage of glue containing inorganic fillers is prone to precipitation, so it must be stirred well before use and tightly sealed after use.
